Welcome to the 5th Africa Dialogue Platform on Anticipatory Humanitarian Action!
The 5th Africa Dialogue Platform will take place in a hybrid format, with studios in Nairobi and Johannesburg and many sessions being held online. Taking place from 28-30 June 2022, we welcome everyone working on, or interested in, anticipatory humanitarian action - from Africa and beyond.
This year’s theme is ‘From dialogue to action: advancing joint goals towards Africa’s anticipatory action roadmap’ and you can read the concept note for the event in English and in French. The overarching ambition for this event is to create a roadmap for anticipatory action in Africa. With an emphasis on cooperation and collaboration, we will jointly explore how anticipatory action initiatives in Africa are contributing to global ambitions and - vice versa - how global initiatives could be informed and shaped by national and regional ambitions on anticipatory action.
As ever, we have a fantastic line-up of speakers and panelists, drawn from communities, the private sector, governments, academia and the humanitarian sector. Whether you are joining us in person or virtually, we look forward to your ideas and ambitions as we strive to scale up anticipatory action in Africa.
The main sessions will be translated from English into Arabic, French and Portuguese.
The 5th Africa Dialogue Platform is organized by the Anticipation Hub, an initiative of the German Red Cross, the Red Cross Red Crescent Climate Centre, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies - with its partners: the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, the IGAD Climate Prediction and Applications Centre, the Kenya Red Cross Society, the Start Network and the World Food Programme. This event is made possible through the financial support from the German Federal Foreign Office, Danish International Development Agency, and the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation.
