6th Africa Dialogue
Platform
on Anticipatory
Humanitarian Action

WATCH AGAIN disruptor

Welcome to the 6th Africa Dialogue Platform on Anticipatory Humanitarian Action!

The 6th Africa Dialogue Platform will take place as a hybrid event, with participants meeting in Johannesburg and many more participating online. Taking place from 4 to 6 July 2023, we welcome everyone with an interest in anticipatory humanitarian action, from Africa and beyond to join us.

Building on the outcomes from last year’s event, the 6th Africa Dialogue Platform will explore diverse issues around the main theme, ‘Preparing for the (un)predictable: anticipatory action in the face of climate change and changing contexts.’  The concept note for the event is also available in French and Portuguese

This will be an opportunity for all stakeholders in the anticipatory action sector - humanitarians, communities, governments, donors, researchers, scientists, and others - to:

  • discuss how to put the various regional roadmaps for anticipatory action in Africa into operation
  • share lessons and new developments from the implementation of this approach in Africa
  • identify financing options for anticipatory action in Africa
  • establish the major barriers to and enablers for scaling up locally led anticipatory action.

Participants will jointly prepare an outcome statement during the event to capture the key recommendations from the discussions. This will inform the Regional Work Plan of the Early Warning for All initiative.

This event is hosted by the Anticipation Hub, an initiative of the German Red Cross, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and the Red Cross Red Crescent Climate Centre. It is co-organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), Start Network and the World Food Programme (WFP), with funding from the German Federal Foreign Office and the Directorate-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations.
